- 2 oz. bourbon whiskey
- 1/2 oz. lemon juice
- 1/2 oz. maple syrup
- cinnamon stick
Combine the liquid ingredients in a shaker, then add enough ice to match (half way or so). Shake thoroughly for 15-30 seconds or until the shaker is frosty and cold to the touch. Strain the mixture into a rocks glass and garnish with a cinnamon stick.
- Spice up this drink by slicing off a piece of orange peel and filling it with red chili flakes. Float the "chili boat" on top of the drink, allowing the consumer to sprinkle as much (or as little) of the flakes into their beverage as they'd like.
- Add ice to the rocks glass first if you prefer additional dilution or plan to nurse the beverage long enough to require temperature control. This also provides a nice little island for the chili boat, if you're going that direction.
- You can be pretty flexible with glassware here. If you don't use an ice block, this drink might look nice in a coupe glass.
