  • 2 1/2 oz. silver tequila
  • 1 oz. Cointreau
  • 1 lime
  • 1 cara cara orange
  • Agave nectar
168 cal

Instructions

Fill a cocktail shaker with ice and pour in the tequila, Cointreau and squeeze of agave nectar. Cut a lime in half, and reserve one wedge for garnish. Squeeze the lime juice into the shaker. Cut the cara cara orange in half, and squeeze both halves into the mixture.

Pour out some kosher salt on a plate. Use the slice of lime to moisten the rim of a glass. Next, hold the margarita glass at an angle in the salt and rotate the glass to coat the rim. Add a cocktail ice cube (or some cubed ice) to the glass and set it aside.

Shake the cocktail shaker until the outside is frosty. Strain contents into the prepared margarita glass and garnish with the lime wedge.

Additional Notes

I've been working on my perfected margarita recipe - and this is the house favorite. The addition of the cara cara orange makes this a great beverage to help make folding laundry, assisting with homework, or just enjoying an episode of Cutthroat Kitchen more enjoyable. Cheers.

100% agave tequila recommended. The el Mayor blanco is a nice tequila for this drink.
