  • 2 oz. rye whiskey
  • 1 oz. sweet vermouth
  • 2 dashes Angostura bitters
  • maraschino cherry

Add the whiskey, vermouth, and bitters to a mixing glass and fill half way with ice. Stir for 30-45 seconds before straining into a coupe glass. Garnish with a cherry or two and enjoy.


  • Replacing the rye with bourbon can make for a slightly sweeter cocktail. I think I enjoy both equally, but tend to reach for the rye more often for some reason.
  • I like Luxardo cherries in my Manhattan but Bordeaux or red maraschino are suitable as well. Take your pick, there is no wrong answer here. You can also add more than one if desired.
